The CRAOL Achievement Awards 2014 have just been launched.

Station nominations are now open with the awards ceremony taking place on Friday, 23rd May, in Youghal as part of the Craol Féile 2014 celebrations.

The purpose of the 5th CRAOL Achievement Awards is to give Stations the opportunity to recognize the contribution voluntary members and staff make, not just in one-off programmes, but on a daily and weekly basis. 

The Awards give Stations an opportunity to showcase achievements and to acknowledge the hard work of voluntary members and staff in a wide variety of programming initiatives. 


Categories for 2014

This year the 5 Categories are:


  1. Commissioned Programming: 1. Documentary, or 2. Non Documentary (these are programmes made with the help of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland or Mary Raftery Fund or other such scheme).

  2. One-Off Programmes: Community Programming, Live Music / Community Event (this can be anything from Sports to events held in local schools or community centres), Endeavour/Innovation

  3. Scheduled Programmes: Irish Language, Youth Programmes, Weekly/Monthly Sports Programmes, Endeavour, Magazine and Community Programmes.

  4. Music Programming: Specialist Music, Irish Traditional, Irish Contemporary, Promotion of Local Talent, Non-English language music programmes.

  5. Talk/Magazine Programmes: Women’s programmes, Arts, Health & Wellbeing, Education, Non-English/Irish Language magazine programmes, non-commissioned documentaries.

Station Managers have been circulated with nomination details and the Craol Achievement Awards Entry form. Nominations close on Wednesday 30th April.
