An Overview of the Constitution and Rules governing Craol

CRAOL is a co-operative, registered with the Registrar of Friendly Societies, whose shareholders are those community radio stations which have been granted a full broadcasting licences by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

Shareholders are also known as “Full” Members of the Society. Shareholding is optional but currently all licenced community radio stations are shareholders

As a Co-operative, CRAOL is governed by:

(1)  a constitution

(2)  a set of standing orders or “Rules of the Society” which is an appendix to (1).

The “Rules of the Society” can only be changed at a full meeting of the Society (or “Forum Meeting”). The AGM is one such meeting.

The Rules govern key aspects of CRAOL Activity such as Membership structure, Meetings, co-ordination committee operation, elections/rotation, etc.
